The Heavy-6 is an aftermarket housing for Leopold FC660C keyboards. This special limited edition is released in the days leading up to and including Easter Sunday 2021 and is limited to a quantity of 100. It is made of polycarbonate resin, which is carved from a solid billet and then hand-finished to a frosted appearance.
Unlike the last batch, a natural wool acoustic dampener is included with this round.
Each Heavy-6 U&O Edition ships with a white Norbauer portcullis logo badge and a stainless steel rear cover plate finished with a textured white powder coat, which imparts considerable weight.
An individually-numbered product credential folio is included, dated and signed by the designer, along with a hand-made linen-lined Norbauer & Co. gift box and custom-fitted EVA foam insert.
FinishThe finish on the housings is sanded by hand and then medium-frosted using blasting media, which preserves the ice-like translucency of the material. It is not quite as aggressively blasted as some polycarb keyboards, but it doesn't look unfinished either. You can control the level of frosting and maintain the finish over time as shown in the below video.
Notes
This product is compatible with the FC660C capacitive keyboard from Leopold. It is not compatible with the similar FC660M from the same company, but there is currently a keyboard community effort to produce an MX-compatible plate and PCB that will go inside the Heavy-6.
This is a DIY housing upgrade kit, keyboard not included, which requires you to remove your FC660C from its stock injection-molded housing. This may invalidate your keyboard warranty, and by purchasing you agree to take on that project and its results at your own risk. (But, of course, that's also part of the fun.) Assembly is straightforward and I'm here to answer any questions if any questions arise during your install.
